Mark Gunter: Chair

Mark Gunter has been serving diverse and underrepresented groups for over twenty years at Tennessee State University.  Mr. Gunter began his career at TSU in 1994 directing a grant sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture that provided assistance to African American farmers and their families.  He began working with ethnically underrepresented students in 2000 and transitioned into international student services in 2008.  He currently serves as the Director for International Student and Scholar Services at Tennessee State University where he has lead the efforts to increase international student enrollment by over 700%.  Mr. Gunter, who is a Nashville native, is married and has two children.  He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Master’s degree in Speech and Communications at Austin Peay State University.  He is a member of the National Association International Educators (NAFSA) and currently serves as Chair of the Tennessee Association of International Educators (TAIE). Mr. Gunter strives to ensure that all TSU students have access to global education opportunities.
